Atlas UP DASH 8-40CW #9390 TMCC
The 4,000hp Dash 8-40CW was produced by General Electric between 1989 and 1993 as a follow-up to the successful Dash 8-40C locomotive. The most distinguishing feature of this model was the introduction of GE’s version of the wide-nose “North American Safety Cab.” This style of cab would become a common sight on railroads across the country. Four major railroads purchased the Dash 8-40CW in fairly large quantities, including Conrail, CSX, Santa Fe and Union Pacific. Most of these units are still in regular mainline and heavy-haul freight service today. Due to various mergers, they can also be seen operating for new owners Norfolk Southern and BNSF. Norfolk Southern Dash 9-44CW Train 8" x 10" Metal Sign
Glossy metal sign measuring 8 x 10 inches. Norfolk Southern was reluctant to order locomotives with the wide cab design, and had always requested a standard cab version of all previous locomotives. These Dash 9 locomotives were the first ordered by Norfolk Southern with the wide cab. These Dash 9s are leading a northbound train through Delphi, Indiana. Metal sign is thick in quality, and will not bend. Image is burned directly onto the metal and the image will never peel off.
Norfolk Southern Ex-Conrail Dash 8 Train 8" x 10" Metal Sign
Glossy metal sign measuring 8 x 10 inches. Norfolk Southern and CSX split up Conrail in 1999, with each railroad taking their share of Conrail’s locomotives, freight cars, and property. This General Electric C40-8W locomotive was originally built for Conrail. It can be distinguished as being a former Conrail locomotive by the recessed areas above the number boards, were Conrail’s signature marker lights were previously. Upon being passed to Norfolk Southern, NS decided to remove the marker lights on all former Conrail engines. CSX, however, has decided to keep the marker lights and on many former Conrail engines marker lights can still be seen intact. This Dash 8 is leading a southbound train through Delphi, Indiana. Metal sign is thick in quality, and will not bend. Image is burned directly onto the metal and the image will never peel off.
