The 9 Best Guitar Building Templates

This is a set of 16 clear acrylic cigar box guitar headstock templates, designed for use on cigar box guitar necks with extended headstocks (headstocks that have had additional pieces of wood glued onto them to make them wider). These designs were created in our own shop, and while some are based on some of the famous guitar-maker designs, are unique and should have no issues with trademarks. Simply place one of the templates on your cigar box guitar headstock, trace on the shape (and optionally the tuner holes), and then use either a hand or power saw to cut out the shape, and then sand as desired. These templates also include lines to mark suggested string spacings for both 3 and 4-string guitars. There are 8 different headstock designs in this set, each of which is presented in a larger version for 4-string guitars, and a smaller (roughly 4/5ths the size) version for 3-stringers. We have included tuner placement holes as a suggestion, but you don’t have to use those – you can place the tuners wherever you want, tweak the designs, combine designs, whatever strikes your fancy! Please note that some of the 4-string designs require headstock extensions wider than those that come on the extended-headstock necks we sell! These templates come with a protective blue plastic film on them which can be peeled off to reveal the clear acrylic beneath.
